'Bangarraju' is a rare inter-generational story. Rarer still, it's a fantasy-comedy that is at its core a family entertainer. That's why when the Nagarjuna-Naga Chaitanya starrer was released in theatres for Sankranthi last month, it became a festival victor.
The news is that the film has started streaming on ZEE5 today (Feb 18). The post-theatrical release has been hugely awaited by the family audience, who these days are making movies big OTT hits if they cater to their sensibilities.
The film, directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, also features Ramya Krishna, Krithi Shetty, Brahmaji, Vennela Kishore, Rao Ramesh, Govind Paramasoorya, Faria Abdullah, Daksha Nagarkar, Simrat Kaur, Sampath Raj, Meenakshi Dixit, Darshana Banik, and Vedhika. Anup Rubens has composed its music.
What is the story?
Chinna Bangarraju (Naga Chaitanya) has a low-key dislike for Naga Lakshmi (Krithi Shetty), his childhood frenemy. Pedda Bangarraju (Nagarjuna) and Sathyabhama (Ramya Krishna), his grandparents, are in Swargam. They descend on Earth in order to see them get married. There is a divine purpose too behind their arrival on Earth. As 'Soggade Chinni Nayana' showed, it has to do with a temple and the greedy villains who want to rob its treasures. The lives of the lead pair, the grandparents and the temple are intertwined.
