Actress Poonam Kaur has been promoting handlooms in her own way. On Friday, she and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor participated in a meeting where it was demanded that GST on handloom products be lifted.
"A pleasure to meet handloom activist and actor PoonamKaur with a group of law students demanding the removal of GST on handloom products," Tharoor tweeted, adding, "I support their demand. The industry is in crisis; weavers can barely make ends meet. Obsolete equipment and high costs compounded by GST will destroy them."
On her part, the actress thanked Tharoor for the support and wrote that his support means a lot.
Kaur has acted in Telugu movies like 'Eenadu', 'Nagavalli', 'Gaganam', and 'Nathicharami'.
