O Kalyan says MAA elections shouldn't be like a war

Film actor O Kalyan today held a presser at the Film Nagar Cultural Club building in Hyderabad and said that the Movie Artists Association has hogged only controversies over the years. Saying that there has been no development on several fronts since it came into existence 15 years ago, Kalyan felt sorry that a war-like situation ensues whenever elections to MAA are around.

"MAA elections have become worse than Panchayati elections. The Association is not service-oriented. Why has MAA failed to construct a new building? The government had given 1000 gajas of land behind the Padmalaya Studio. The land has remained neglected. Is MAA not capable of using it? How come Prakash Raj has come forward to run for MAA President? I have been defeated six times in MAA elections. Even those who declare support to me have excused themselves after the election," he said.

Kalyan urged the industry elders not to make MAA a laughing stock. "The MAA President has to be elected unanimously. I am ready to make a big donation to MAA," he added.
