Renowned director Harish Shankar has done something commendable. He has decided to return the amount that he received from the government of Telangana under the Farmers' Investment Support Scheme (FISS) (also called Rythu Bandhu Padhakam) for his land in the Kammadanam village, so that it could be used to benefit other farmers in need.
In the presence of the regional MLA, handing over the cheque to the village Sarpanch, the filmmaker said, "The scheme introduced by the Government of Telangana is one of its kind. As a result, even I received some benefit for the land I own. I felt this amount should be used to help a farmer who is in need and so, added an amount from my end and handed it over to the sarpanch. I am doing this with a sense of responsibility."
