'Ruler', which marks the second collaboration of Nandamuri Balakrishna and K.S.Ravikumar after a decent like 'Jai Simha', has released today. Read our review.
Story
Arjun Prasad (Balakrishna) is a very successful IT entrepreneur. Knowing that his mother (Jayasudha) was insulted by a politician in Uttar Pradesh, he goes there and revives an unfinished project despite the warnings of a local politician. People in UP start seeing Dharma, a powerful cop, in him. Who is Dharma and what is his terrible past?
Performances
Balakrishna has looked very young and stylish in the role of an entrepreneur. He has given a sincere performance and his dance moves will impress his fans for sure. But the makeup for the cop role should have been better as the getup looks good sometimes. Bhumika gets a small but important role. Vedhika has done a good job. Sonal Chauhan is glamorous. Prakash Raj, Nagineedu and others are good.
Technical aspects
Chirantan Bhatt's songs are decent but the background score seems loud. The cinematography is good. The production values are rich.
Plus Points
Balayya's young look & performance
Action sequences
Few emotional scenes
Minus Points
Routine story
Pre-climax
Balakrishna's cop get-up
Analysis
A senior actor like Balakrishna going all out to shed weight and trying a new look just to delight his fans is really commendable. He has given his best for the film. His energy and ease in doing action sequences is good to watch. But 'Ruler' has a very routine story and narration. Some emotional scenes and dialogues work. Fans will definitely love Balayya in action scenes and a new look. To sum it up, watch 'Ruler' for Balakrishna's superb effort and some emotional scenes.
