Gautham Menon

Gautham Menon is largely famous for his romantic hits like ‘Cheli’ (Minnale in Tamil) and ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ (Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa in Tamil).  Now his latest movie ‘Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu’ (Neethaane En Ponvasantham in Tamil) has generated lot of buzz right from the time it went on the sets.  The title ‘Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu’ reminds us of Nagarjuna-Tabu’s popular hit number ‘Yeto Vellindhi Manasu….’From Krishna Vamsi’s creation ‘Ninne Pelladuta’.

This Nani-Samantha starrer appears to be a sweet, light hearted feel good romantic movie that showcases three different stages of love.  Love at tender age of 8, at 18 and at 28.  At 8 they play and fight, at 18 love blossoms between them and at 28 they are matured enough to understand what they are expecting from each other.  The audience can expect a very well paced direction with genuinely outstanding and intelligent writing from Gautham Menon.  Apart from that, the moviegoers are assured impressive performances from the charismatic lead pair.  They will also get to see Nani and Samantha in three different get-ups - as school going children, as college buddies and as matured lovers.

Music always play a vital role when it comes to romantic films because it is the music that elicits an immediate reaction from the audience and gives them chills when they watch the visuals along with the audio.  Here when we talk about Gautham Menon’s films, music is the main element.  So in this manner if we imagine a love story film in the combination of Gautham Menon and Ilayaraja, we can predict it as an impeccable movie.  After giving a considerable break Ilayaraja is back into films to hypnotize people in a wave of music. He has recently given some wonderful musical scores in Tamil and Telugu. With his sound treatment given to the visuals in YVM in the form of songs and background score, the movie is expected to take the audiences on a mesmerizing journey.  As known to all, the audio is already a big hit with positive reviews.

M S Prabhu is the cinematographer of this film.  He had worked under the guidance of P C Sriram in the past and also worked for K V Anand’s directorial venture ‘Ayan’ (Veedokkade in Telugu) starring Surya and Tamannah.  His cinematography and Anthony’s editing also play key roles in creating the proper mood and the tone for the situation.  There is a different world in every film and Gautham Menon’s this youthful romantic movie is not different when it comes to completely involve the audience in a different world.  YVM posters designed by Anil Bhanu and the trailers have received wide range of response from the movie lovers and they have expressed high expectations on the film.  However, the director’s goal is not just the youth audience as this story is such that it will connect well with all age groups.

This bilingual film featuring Nani opposite Samantha in Telugu version, has Jiiva opposite her in Tamil version.  It was also started in Hindi as ‘Assi Nabbe Poorey Sou’ with Aditya Chopra and Samantha as lead pair.  However, the film could not be completed as per the schedule time.  So the movie will open to theaters worldwide on December 14th, 2012 in Telugu and Tamil only.  Yet another point to be noted here is that Samantha was to dud her voice in Telugu but later she changed her decision saying that she did not want to disappoint Chinmayi's fans.  Nevertheless the Tamil audience will get to hear to her sweet voice.  C Kalyan is producing the Telugu version under Teja Cinema banner and iDream Media is distributing the movie at overseas.

Nani, Jiiva and Samantha scored good marks from the captain of the ship.  “Every film turns out to be a revelation. Jiiva and Samantha, this time it's you and it's been a pleasure. You both are so very good. Before everybody jumps to conclusions, I have already asked Jiiva and Nani if they'll do another film and this time together in one film. That was about the Tamil film guys. With Nani, what struck me was his confidence. Revelation- Nani, the most confident actor. Nani is a pleasure to work with. Will do a film with him anytime given the chance, "says director Gautham Menon.  But before that, let’s look forward to the film to work wonders for producers and distributors at the box-office just like his previous movie ‘Ye Maya Chesave’.
