Oh My Friend - For the group of college buddies

After the blockbuster film ‘Bommarillu’ in 2006, Siddharth and Dil Raju joined hands for ‘Oh My Friend’ in 2011. This film which is again directed by another debutant Venu Sriram is also a romantic family entertainer. The film stars Siddharth, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani and Navdeep in central roles. So far Sri Venkateswara Creations banner has a long-lasting reputation for the very highest quality of music-making. Even though they make family oriented films, musically they prefer youthful and energetic songs. For the first time Dil Raju experimented music with a Malayalam music director Rahul Raj who is quite familiar in Malayalam. So let’s hope for the best.
Oh Oh Oh My Friend Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya Singer: Karthik
The album opens with a pop number ‘Oh Oh Oh My Friend, Thidithe Thittey Nanne, Oh Oh Oh My Friend, Kodithe Kottey Ante…’ sung by Karthik. The song starts off well with the sound of foot-steps and finger snaps. The entire song from start to end is in western style and the music is little loud. Infact today’s youth prefers only such kind of heavy metal beat. Krishna Chaitanya penned the lyrics at the core of youth’s culture. Karthik’s vocals are fine too.
Nuvvu Nenu Jattu Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Sirivennela Singer: Benny Dayal
‘Nuvvu Nenu Jattu Ani Saksham Cheppe Tattu’ is a very short and sweet song on friendship. Sung by Benny Dayal the lyrics are written by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry. This appears to be a situation bound and nice to listen as well.
Sri Chaitanya Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya Singer: Siddharth, Shruthi Hasan
Sri Chaitanya Junior College MPC lo Pakka Benchi Pilla, Appudento Nachchane Ledhu Ippudaithe Marchipolenu’ is a nice playful fun song that will instantly grab the attention of all college goers. Music is light and lively. Krishna Chaitanya’s lyrics are catchy. Interestingly, this song was crooned by Siddharth and Shruthi Haasan, and the more interesting part is that Shruti Haasan’s pronunciation of Telugu language is absolutely perfect. Both Siddu and Shruti makes it work with their playful attitude. This song is sure to hit the chartbusters. I hope that the makers have taken the permission to use the name of the popular institution in order to avoid any controversies in future.
Aalochana Vasthene Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Sirivennela Singer: Sangeetha Prabhu, Sarah Straub
‘Aalochana Vasthene….’ is a lovely duet song written by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry. The lyrics are quite appealing and vocals by Sangeetha Prabhu and Sarah Straub are warm with some interesting harmonies. I liked the tapping sound beats. The singing style is good with classical touch. However, the music was a little bit loud at some places.
Vegam Vegam Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya Singer: Benny Dayal, Kavitha Mohan, Jayaram Ranjith, Desmond. F
‘Vegam Vegam Vegam….’ is yet another pop rock number. This is a fast song sung by Benny Dayal, Kavitha Mohan, Jayaram Ranjith and Desmond. The drum arrangements are good but they are quite loud. Nevertheless the youth will definitely enjoy it. Rahul Raj appears to have chosen this kind of music based on the lyrical style. Krishna Chaitanya was at his usual best in providing the best lyrics. Overall, this song will make you feel more energetic. Enjoy!!!
Nenu Thaanani Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Sirivennela Singer: Ranjith
This is an emotional song that tells the thin line between the friendship and love. Sirivennela explained it beautifully through his lyrics ‘Nenu Thaanani Anukuntara, Nene Thaanani Anukora, Iddariga Kanipinchadamema Thappantara, Aada Maga Ani Theda Undani, Abhimananiki Chebutaara, Sneham Moham Rendu Verani Thelisi Tappuku Pothara…’. Ranjith has put his soul into this song and I’m sure Siddharth would have given life to it. It’s a wonderfully composed song, just listen to it!
Maa Daddy Pockets Music: Rahul Raj Lyrics: Krishna Chaitanya Singer: Siddharth
Ha ha! Here is yet another song from Siddharth for college buddies. ‘Maa Daddy Pockets Eppudu Plenty Plenty Ra….Naa Rendu Pockets Eppudu Empty Empty Ra…’ is a typical song for college goers. The song is extremely enjoyable for the youth but the music is very loud. However we can’t help it as the song was composed in a rock style. Krishna Chaitanya did a wonderful job. The lyrics are catchy and easy to hum. The song opens with Siddarth saying ‘Hey Hyderabad! You guys ready to rock N roll’. Siddu is best known for his work right from the film ‘Boys’. One has to admit that this multi-talented personality can do wonders both in singing and acting. So it’s really going to be a visual treat also for the younger lot.
All songs are youthful, energetic and playful except that the music was a little loud in some songs. So the final verdict is this album is mainly meant for the group of college buddies.
