NIFT Fashion Olympiad 2014

Fashion is an expression of society and in a widely plural country like India fashion plays a vital role to connect people through varied emotion, expression, expectation and culture. NIFT Fashion Design Olympiad is a melting pot of activities around fashion and design with a philosophy of ‘sanyogam’ , the eternal connectivity among youth. NIFT Fashion Olympiad 2014 will promote creativity and encourage lateral thinking among the youth.

1. Fashion Marathon
It will be two days event of thrilling race of creative juices and magical time management wherein 12 working hours (2 days) in fashion lab, a team of 02 participant. Each team will match the challenge from concept on paper to cut and construct a complete ensemble based on given concept and material.

2. Fashion m’bition (Visual merchandising)
: It will be a thematic window display based on fashion, creatively compiled from costume to trends, from traditional craft to forecasting. The focus will be in creative interpretation of the theme and unique exhibition/ display design in form of a window or stand.

3.Quick Silver (Fashion Quiz)
The temperature will rise with high dose of fashion quotient, don’t confuse it with any ordinary quiz event, its for the fashion by the fashion. (An intense multi-round fashion quiz) Topic will include from History of Fashion Geography of Fashion, Gender and Fashion, Politics and Fashion, War and Fashion and Love and Fashion.

4. Fashion click o-Mania: Street-style:
Click happy photographers go around town armed with their sharp shooter cameras to capture the latest quirky fashion trends doing the rounds in their very own cities and towns, trend spotting and creative photography is to be judged.

6. Brand-O-Mania
It is an old activity of FMS department. The same format as used during Fashion Spectrum.

7. Fashion Wall
An avant-garde approach of creative exploration through textile materials from yarn, fabric or deconstructing garments as an art form. The mode of expression can be textile panels, mixed techniques textile surfaces, installation or textile sculptures.

8. Junk Juxtaposed/ hautte junkyard:
An Upcycling Fashion event for the green fashion soul. The junk bag will transform into juke box of fashion in those mighty green hands. The mode of expression can be creative techniques, surfaces, installation, products or sculptures.

9. Fashion and Music:
an event (team of 2 can participate) with impromptu styling and ramp walk which will match the tune choreographed by the team as per the given theme, on spot.
