1500 Riders participated in 7th Edition of India’s biggest corporate cycling event Republic Ride
The Cycling Tradition on National Days like Republic Day and Independence Day Continues
The Ride Marks the Significant Achievement of 50,000 riders riding in over 20 rides organized by The Atlanta Foundation So far
1500 serious bicycle riders participated in 100Kms, 25Kms and 50Kms rides at the 7th Edition of India’s biggest corporate cycling event “Republic Ride” held on January 26th at Gachibowli Stadium in Gachibowli.
The 100kms ride was flagged off first in the early morning at 5.30am, followed by it another ride comprised of 25 and 50 kms was flagged off. Prior to the flagging off, the riders were warmed by Zumba Traner Abhimanika and they made to dance to drum beats too. Deena Harpanahalli explained the rules and gave them the route and related details.
Later flag was hoisted by the Government School Kids of Gachibowli High School, Anjaiah Nagar Primary School, Siddiqnagar School and CNN Tanda School. These schools get continuous support from Atlanta Foundation. The foundation organizes various rides every year to raise funds to support these schools.
This Republic Ride 2016 marked the milestone achievement of 50,000 riders riding in over 20 rides organized so far since the year 2009. What started small with just 500 riders, it has gone up to 5000 riders participating in each of the rides in the past. The rides which began in city, spread to places like Chennai, Delhi and other cities as well.
The Medals were distributed after successful completion of the rides. .
The ride covered the distance of 100Kms and it included a relay format as well for those who want to finish it as a team effort in multiples of 25K and 50K. The ride path started at the Gachibowli stadium, progressed towards Shankarpally and beyond and returned to the stadium. All riders who finish their 100K as individuals or as a team received the medal and certificates.
Organized by The Atlanta Foundation, The Republic Ride had 1500 riders. These riders include the employees of GE, Broadridge, Invesco, CDK Global, Pega, Sri Chaitanya, HSBC, DuPont, CA, Wells Fargo, Synchrony Financials, Green Park hospitality, and many more multinational companies.
Annual rides like Republic Ride, Freedom Ride, Peace Ride, and the Unity Ride are organized by The Atlanta Foundation, a charitable organization, to raise funds to support the education of under privileged students in government schools. These rides are most talked about rides which kick-started cycling movement not only in Hyderabad but in several cities across the country. The entire credit of reviving Cycling in the city goes to Atlanta Foundation.
The Republic Ride – 2016 has the strong support from IT and BPO multinationals, along with the event partners Synchrony Financials, Sri Chaitanya Educational Committee, Pride Honda, Green park hospitality services, and government organizations like TSIIC, TS-ITE&C Dept., SCSC and many more.
The Atlanta Foundation’s primary mission is to support the education of the under-privileged students. The Foundation has a No-Donation Policy, and these rides help in raising support for these government school programs.
