The India's largest Startup Conference--The August Fest, third edition, organized to celebrate art and entrepreneurship kicked off here in Hyderabad at JRC Convention Center, near Wishper Valley, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The two day festival will conclude on Sunday.
Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary IT, Govt, of Telangana inaugurated and delivered inaugural key note address "Is Innovation Possible in Government?"
Speaking on the occasion Kiran Maverick, Founder of Eat, Sleep and Drink Start Ups, the organization behind "The August Fest" said, that the fest is featuring for the first time global ecosystem contributors from Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, South Korea, Turkey, U.K and America.
This unique fest is organized in support with Government of Telangana; ISB, the premier business school and T-Hub, India's largest technology incubator.
The August Fest is an event that has brought together the whole startup ecosystem in India for the first time, Kiran added.
The inaugural day had series of sessions and panel discussions, which include a session on Building Billion Dollar Businesses by Vani Kola, MD of Kalaari Capital. Kalaari is a $ 160 million Venture Capital Fund with a strong advisory team in Bangalore, investing in early stage, technology oriented companies in India.
Keynote address was delivered By Bibop G Gresta. He is considered world wide as an expert in digital- medias and technologies, specialising in viral projects, participative television and new TV formats designed for various digital platforms.
NASSCOM Chief BVR Mohan Reddy delivered another keynote address on - Building company in non internet era - challenges then and now Software professional and a long time Mac Developer, Sarat Kongara delivered a talk on Lazy is Good. Sarath was building applications on the Mac when most people thought Apple was just a fruit. It declined an offer from Microsoft after graduating from college to work for a Startup in Boston. Apart from a few brief stints at Apple, Bank of America, he spent most of his time working for Startups in the USA and India.
To break the monotony of an otherwise serious session, A Live Stand-Up Comedy performed by Vasu Primlani. Besides being a Stand Up Comedian she is an internationally celebrated speaker, Emcee and Comic. She is a professional Comic, has performed-headlined variously in the USA and in India.
There were two panel discussion on Indian vs Global Startup Ecosystems and Secrets to crack new age Accelerators, Angels & V.C Funds
The day one ended with Startup Pitches.

The August Fest concept is conceived by Eat Sleep Drink (ESD) start-ups in 2013. The event will be a unique convergence and collaboration platform for people from several fields. Aimed at start-ups, soon to be start-ups, designers, creative professionals (Short-Indie films/Creative projects/entertainment technologies), the fest is expected to attract 4000 participants informed Adi Vemuru, another team member and one of the founding members of The August Fest.
The August Fest, which started small three years back is now emerged as the destination for the who's who of Indian startup scene. From 500 participants in first year to 2500 participants in second year, the participation will swell to 4000, by far the biggest participation ever in any Startup Fest held, Kiran said.
