Fourth International Exhibition & Conference on Civil Aviation - India Aviation 2014 – to be held in city from 12th March

Theme of this year’s show is “Enhancing Air Connectivity”

Hyderabad, 10 March 2014... After the Grand success of India Aviation 2012, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India jointly with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is organizing the 4th Edition of India Aviation from 12 – 16 March 2014 here in Hyderabad at Begumpet Airport. Honourable Minister for Civil Aviation, Government of India Mr. Ajit Singh will formally inaugurate the India Aviation show on 12th March at 10am. Governor of Andhra Pradesh His Excellency Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan will be the Chief Guest. The Inaugural is expected to be graced by Sidharth Birla, President of FICCI, His Excellency Mr. Francois Richier, Ambassador of France, Ms. Leocadia I, Zk, Director US Trade and Development Agency, Mr. Ashok Lavasa, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation. Mr. S.S. Sidhu, Former Secretary, Civil Aviation will give a keynote address at the inauguration. Sri. K.C. Venugopal, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Govt. of India will also be gracing the occasion and address the gathering.

Following the inauguration, Mr. Ajit Singh will visit the exhibition and address a press conference.

The theme of this year's show is "Enhancing Air Connectivity". India Aviation Show 2014 is India's largest and globally acknowledged event on Civil Aviation. Aerobatics is the special attraction this year informed Mr. G Asok Kumar, Joint Secretary of Civil Aviation.

Speaking further he said that India is to become the third largest aviation market in the world by 2020 for USA and China. About 400 aircrafts are currently operational in the country and by 2020 the number is expected to reach 1000 aircrafts. There is a huge opportunity for MRO sector (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul sector). Civil aviation is a highly regulated sector, this is a good opportunity and we are focusing for India to emerge as a MRO hub, he added.

Speaking on the highlights of the India Aviation show this year, Mr. G. Asok Kumar said that this is the first time that Airbus A380 will be on display. This is the first time a fully furnished, in service Airbus A380 aircraft, the worlds largest commercial aircraft will be coming in on 12th March will be there at the show till 14th. Also on displaywill be Air India’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The Dreamliner will be landing on 11th evening coming in from New Delhi. Also speciality of this seasone is Aerobatics Display by Mark Jefferies Air Shows and Display Aerobatics, UK twice daily from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Mark Jefferies and Tom Cassells both are multiple time British Champions, together they form the Global Stars aerobatic team – Formation & Solo Displays. Tom Cassells and Mark Jefferies will showcase formation and synchronized aerobatics. And they will be trying something unique for the first time in the world which they call it as synchorinized aerial smoke acts.

This year there will be special session on Helicopters. Seminar on Heli-Tourism and Heli-Emergency Medical Services will be held. Workshops and Discussions will be held on the same. A Job fair & Counselling will be held for students of final year courses in Aeronautical Engineering. Senior students of technical colleges will participated in sessions on careers, counselling, etc. An Aviation Theatre will also be there at India Aviation show which will showcase fiction and non-fiction movies, informed Mr. G. Asok Kumar. About 250 exhibitors from 18 countries will be participating in the event. There are 200 stalls, 12 chalets with 20,000 sq. mts. Area for the event. 18 Aircrafts ranging from small business jets to Airbus will be on display, he added.

There will also be a Web Conference with American companies looking at manufacturing and servicing.

India Aviation 2014 is supported by Air India, Airports Authority of India, Pawan Hans, BAOA (Business Aircraft Operators Association), Directorate General of Civil Aviation, SIATI (Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI) and BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security of India). The Overseas Associate for the Show is Farnborough International Ltd, The host state is Andhra Pradesh, Focus State Karnataka, Partner Country is US Department of Commerce and Guest Country is France, informed Mr. Manoj Mehta, Deputy Director, FICCI.

India Aviation 2014, in its fourth edition, is the only focused event on Civil Aviation Industry. The who's who of the Indian Aviation sector and senior ministry officials, delegates, Aviation Experts are expected to visit the Show from around the world.

The exhibitors profile includes Aircrafts -- Commercial Aircrafts, Helicopters, Cargo Aircrafts, Business Jets, Regional Aircrafts and Motor Gliders, Airlines, Airline Services and Air Cargo; Aircraft Interiors, Aircraft Machinery and Equipment Companies and Aviation Skill Development Institutions.

Indian aviation sector has witnessed a remarkable growth story in the last decade with robust growth in passenger and cargo traffic, huge jump in the number of aircrafts operating in the country, an impressive increase in the non scheduled operators, surge in investment in the airport infrastructure, rapid rise in the number of operational airports, modernization and augmentation of capacities at various metro and non-metro airports and much more.

Rapidly expanding air transport network and opening up of the airport infrastructure to private sector participation have fuelled the growth of the air traffic in the country. India is likely to be the fastest growing aviation market in the world in the next 20 years. Indian airport system is poised to handle 336 million domestic and 85 million international passengers by 2020, from the current level of 121 million domestic and 41 million international passengers, making India the third largest aviation market. According to International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Airline Industry Forecast 2012-2016, India's domestic air travel market would be among the top five globally, experiencing the second highest growth rate at CAGR of 13.1%.

The second phase of growth in Indian aviation is expected to come from Tier-II and Tier-III cities. The non-metro airports presently account for only about 30% of the total air traffic, which is expected to rise to 45% in the next few years, representing vast untapped future market potential. With smaller cities set to lead the air traffic growth in the country, the government is planning to build nearly 200 low-cost airports in the next 20 years to meet the demand for air travel.

With metro routes now being highly competitive and well served, airlines are looking for new market opportunities beyond metros. In an endeavor to strengthen the air connectivity domestically, Government has taken significant measures for providing affordable air connectivity to remote and interior areas of the country - the North Eastern Region and Tier-II & III cities of India. Apart from the development of low-frill airports and modification of Route Dispersal Guidelines, Government is in the process of formulation of a policy for the promotion of regional and remote-area connectivity, incentivizing Indian airlines to operate on these routes, by code-sharing and seat-credit mechanism.

Furthermore, Government is planning to construct 15 additional airports in the country under the Greenfield Airport Policy, by identifying the most suitable low cost viable model for development of small airports. These airports are expected to improve connectivity with underserved and unserved regions of India. Moreover, Airports Authority of India plans to invest INR 1500 crore in the development of non metro airports during the 12th plan.

In pursuit of stimulating the air connectivity, India is planning to invest over US$ 120 billion in the development of airport infrastructure (construction of new airports, expansion and modernization of existing airports) & development of low cost airports to keep the tariff at its minimal at smaller airports; improvement in connecting infrastructure(road, metro, sea, link etc.); development of world class Air Navigation Services (ANS) infrastructure; enhancing the present operations of helicopters to improve connectivity of remote/smaller places with bigger cities; modernizing security & surveillance at airports; and skill augmentation through a vibrant, world class aviation education & training mechanism.

The market is huge and opportunities are plenty.

• Indian airports require an investment of over US$ 12 billion in the next five years
• Additional 30 airports required to handle the growing passenger and cargo traffic in next five years
• Airlines are expected to add around 370 aircrafts (worth US$ 27.5 billion) to their fleet by the year 2017
• Investment to the tune of US $4 Billion required for General Aviation aircrafts in next 5 years
• Air Navigation Services (ANS) requires investment worth US$ 7 billion in the next five years
• US$ 5 billion required for developing ground handling, cargo, and logistic facilities at major airports
• FDI up to 49% allowed in domestic airlines by the foreign carriers
• Foreign equity up to 100% allowed in airport development
• Domestic and international passenger traffic are expected to grow at annual average rate of 12% and 8% in next five years
• Annual average rate growth of domestic and international cargo are estimated to be 12% and 10% during next five years
• MRO industry to triple in size from INR 2250 crore in 2010 to INR 7000 crore by 2020

The Aviation Show 2014 is being organised in this light of background.

Being firmly established as a key event on the international aerospace calendar, India Aviation show attracts influential Government officials, key policymakers, leading airport developers, major investors, financial institutions, global experts, corporate leaders and other stakeholders.

Elaborate arrangements and facilities such Business Centre, Lounge, Exhibitors Restaurant, Florist Counters, Snack Counters, Drinking Water, Information Desk, Travel & Transport Desk, Business Information Centre, etc. have been made for Exhibitors and Trade Delegates and Business Visitors.

Security being a major concern, the entire venue will be under security cover. We have made tight security arrangements for the air show. Hyderabad Police too are making elaborate security arrangements, informed ACP Mr. B. Mahonar, Hyderabad Police. 200 CISF personnel, 300 Hyderabad Police personnel (uniformed and in mufti too) are organized for the security. Apart from the regular police force, dog squads and anti-sabotage squads will be on standby at the show, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. I.N. Murthy, Director, Begumpet Airport said the Airport is busy handling 80 moments per day. Airport is geared up for Airbus A380 to land. DGCA has cleared the same. He urged general public not to throw eatables around the airport which will attract birds.

The components of the event include Exhibition, Conference, CEO Forum, Chalets, Static Display, Demonstration Flights, Media Conferences Conference on Civil Aviation sector with focus on policy issues and business aspects will be held on 13th March, 2014 concurrent to the exhibition. Considering the success of CEO Forum held during INDIA AVIATION 2012, the organisers are yet again providing a platform to CEOs of leading companies of Aviation Sector for an interactive session with the Hon'ble Minister for Civil Aviation.

The first three days 12, 13 and 14th March is only for Business Visitors. The General Visitors are allowed only 15th and 16th March. The entry is through tickets. The entry tickets can be booked on www.bookmyshow.com. The general tickets are priced at Rs 300/- and Business at Rs 700/-. All Days Business tickets valid for all business days is put at Rs 2100/-. The tickets will also be available for the general public at all the 18 branches of Axis Bank in Hyderabad & Secunderabad.

There will be two sessions for general visitors on 15th & 16th March. One from 10 AM to 1 PM and other from 2 PM to 5 PM. The visitors who buys tickets as general visitors on 15th and 16th are allowed to go in the specific session and allowed to spend that much time only.

Only a limited number of tickets are available for general visitors. Only 5000 visitors are allowed for the session. All four sessions together on 15th and 16th only 20,000 visitors are allowed to visit the show, Lt. Col. Vivek Kodikal, Regional Director (Trade Fairs) – FICCI. Parking arrangements have been made at Begumpet airport Cargo Area and also at Gymkhana Grounds. A shuttle bus service will be operated every 15 minutes to Begumpet Airport. No private transportation will be allowed inside the Begumpet airport premises during the general public days. No children below 18 years will be allowed on the business days, however all are welcome on the days for general public i.e. 15th & 16th March, he added.

Airbus A380 which will be showcased for the first time at India Aviation 2014 will only be available on first three days and will not be available for the last two days. Visitors only can see static flights from 30 feet away from barricade. No visitor is allowed to board any aircraft. The right to allow a business visitor to see the aircraft from inside solely lies with the exhibitor. General visitors will not be allowed to enter any planes on display, informed Lt. Col. Vivek Kodikal, Regional Director (Trade Fairs) – FICCI.

Elaborate arrangement for Parking for Vehicles are being made for general visitors on 15th and 16th March at Cargo Area at Airport and nearby areas, subject to confirmation. Public are requested to make use of public transportation to avoid traffic jams and congestions.

General visitors are requested not to carry food, water, eatables, big hand bags, purses, any liquids, banned items etc. inside the show strictly for security reasons. It is desirable that visitors do not carry mobile phones as well to avoid congestion. Sufficient arrangements are made for food and water inside the venue. Public are also informed that they will be able to view different aircrafts from a barricaded distance. They cannot & should not expect to enter any plane. All the security procedures of any operating airport will be strictly adhered to at the Begumpet Airport informed Lt. Col. Vivek.

The primary objective of the event is Business in nature, to attract investments in the Aerospace sectors, into the country in general, & AP in particular. This is not a Mela.

The exhibition timings are 10 AM to 5 PM. The exhibition concludes on Sunday, 16th March. Public are requested to cooperate with the organizers to make the show a big success.

India Aviation 2012

The Last Show held in March 2012 had a theme - ‘India: the Emerging Aviation Hub’. It received tremendous response from international as well as national aviation industry and was a resounding success. It turned out
to be the most stimulating forum for all segments in the civil aviation industry to remove the roadblocks in the path of developing India as a Civil Aviation Hub. With attendance of over 550 delegates, the conference was instrumental in bringing the world’s leading companies to India, which is increasingly becoming the global base for business negotiations in the civil aviation sector.

200 Exhibitors participated. More than 25 Aircrafts were displayed at the show. Boeing 787 Dreamliner was showcased for the first time in India at India Aviation 2012.

The Inaugural Ceremony was attended by over 650 representatives. More than 5000 business visitors and 30,000 general visitors visited the last show.

The first and second India Aviation Shows were held in the year 2008 and 2010.
