Maxtalent Global Sports launches Hyderabad's first world-class cricket academy in partnership with Sports Square

When it comes to cricket we can never have enough! Now, the good news for budding young cricketers is that they can train in a world-classcentre right here in Hyderabad. This is being made possible by Maxtalent Global Sports (MGS), an international sports training institutionthat’s recognized and registered with Federal Ministry for UAE General Authority of Youth & Sports Welfare and commended by ICC for its contribution to cricket training, which inauguratedthe first world class cricket training academy at Meridian School in Hyderabad today, in partnership with Sports Square, a Hyderabad outfit.

The state-of-the-artacademy was inaugurated by India’s Cricket Legend and recipient of Col. CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement Award (2009), Shri Gundappa Vishwanath. Also present on the occasion were the Chairman& CEO of Maxtalent Global Sports – Mr Sudhakar Shetty who had flown down from Dubai for the launch and Mr Adarsh Reddy, CEO, Sports Square, Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion Vishwanath said, I am pleased to launch The Sports Square, an academy which shows immense potential, it has a lovely ground, turf is laid, excellent coaches, one of the Coaches represented the bank team I played for. Sports Square involving eminent players like Dennis Lillee, Dave Whatmore to coach here will make a huge difference. This academy is having a good start with a strength of 40 to begin with. If kids start palying on a turf in the beginning itself it helps in the long run. Today, academies are mushrooming across with no good infrastructure or coaches. A coach has to be some one who has played cricket, but most such academies have coaches who are just drill masters with no cricket playing experience, these drill masters can’t impart any technique to kids. An academy like Sports Square will do well and do justice to the wards. The coaches should train the kids in the basics and such kids can excel in any format of cricket, otherwise they will remain 20-20 speacialists. India has enormous raw talent and academies like these can tap them and unearth gems. My idol Jaisimha is from this city and several talented world class cricketers Pataudi, Azhar, Laxman hail from this city, they all worked hard to reach there, including Sachin worked hard even on the last day of his career. Ensure the wards here work hard too, to reach those heights. Regarding his debut test match at Kanpur in 1969 he said, I was nervous with butterflies flying to face the West Indian pacers, more so in the second innings as I was out for a duck in the first innings, had a sleepless night, worried about failing again could lead to end of my innings in test cricket. In the second innings went to corner of the stadium and was intensly watching the batting partnership between Ashok Mankad and Ajit Wadekar, some one from behind came and tapped me, it was captain Pataudi, he asked me not to worry, take it easy and said I will score a century. This eased the pressure on me and went on to score a century in the second innings. He said I would rate the 97 not out against West Indies at Chepauk as my best innings and the 139 at Kolkatta with Karsan Gauri at the other end and tremendous pressure on me to score as the best knock. Regarding the current Indian cricket team he said they need to perform more consistently in all areas, if batting clicks, bowling is noit coming good or vice versa or fielding is letting down, they need to regain confidence. Its good they are playing abroad before world cup. Regarding Dhoni, he said he is doing well. It is upto the selectors to decide on the team composition and captain.
