Bajaj Allianz Blood Donation Drive Launch in Andhra Pradesh

Secunderabad, June 5, 2012: Bajaj Allianz life Insurance today announced a Blood Donation Drive called 'Ankurarn' across the state of Andhra Pradesh. The camp was inaugurated by renowned actress, Ms. Sweta Basu along with Mr. Subrat Mohanty, Head of Sales, Bajaj Allianz life Insurance and Ms. Kottapalli Ratnavali, Vice President & Coordinator, Sickle Cell Society, Hvderabad. Bajaj Allianz has also joined hands with Sickle 'Cell Society, a non-profit organization of Hyderabad, to provide blood for the patients of this deadly disease and other major hospitals across the state.
The camp would be conducted across 55 cities and towns in Andhra Pradesh from 5th of June 2012 until iz" of June 2012. The blood collected from this drive will be donated to the blood banks of the main hospitals of the cities where the camps are being conducted. The blood collected from Hyderabad and Secunderabad will be donated to the Sickle Cell society for Thalassemia patients in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. In other places, it will be donated to blood banks in major hospitals. '
Speaking on the occasion Subrat Mohanty, Head of Sales, Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance said that "Receiving matching blood group on time can be a critical life-saver. This was the thought behind kicking-off 'Ankuram', wherein we aim to collect a minimum of 2000 units of blood through this drive. We are also aiming to help young patients of Thalasemia through this drive who require blood frequently."

It is encouraging to see insurers like Bajaj Allianz take up this initiative and reach out to small towns and, districts in Andhra Pradesh where blood may be in shortage and required within a short notice in case of emergencies. Blood donation drives like Ankuram will ensure that blood banks are always stocked with the necessary units of blood."
