Carnatic Music program - Lanham, MD

Carnatic Music program was conducted on 18th March 2012, at Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, Lanham, MD by Smt.Sravanthi Sadanala. Program is based on three Hindu festivals, Siva Ratri, Sree Rama Navami and Ugaadi. Accordingly Keerthans praising Lord Ganesha, Lord Rama and Lord Siva were recited.

Participants recited Keerthans composed by Sri Adi Shanakaracharya, Sri Tyagaraja, Sri Badrachala Ramadasu, Sri.Prayaga Rangadasa, Sri Sathya Sai Baba and Sri Ganapathi Sachidanada Swami.

Over 75 Carnatic Music Students got an opportunity to show case their talent at the program. Participants included from ages 4 yrs to 40 yrs old and they were are grouped as per their age. Program was attended by more than 250 people and was a huge success due to the efforts of volunteers like Ashok Anmalsetty, Savitha Chennamaneni, Anusha, Aparna Mattupalli and other volunteers. Program anchoring was done by Manjula Ganapathi.

Program started with Ganesh Pancharathnam ( composer Sri Adi Shankaracharya ) with participants Smt.Mamta,Smt.Hema.Smt.Savitha,Smt.Nalini, Smt.Chandni,Smt.Jyothi,Smt.Manjula Smt.Pratima and Smt.Sravanthi.

4 yrs old group included Maya, Ananya, Meghana, SriTanvi,Vinita, Nimisha sang Veda Vinayaka ( Sanskrit) Atmaa Ram (Sanskrit), Shambo Maha(Sanskrit) by Sri Sathya Sai Baba

5 yrs old group included Srikar, Saicharan, Ishwara, Amulya, Pramiti,Tarani,Sricharan
OmGana ( Sanskrit), Anjaneya (Sanskrit), Punya Naam(Sanskrit)

Smt.Sravanthi Sadanala learnt music under the under the guidance of Sri. Chandra Sekara Venkatachary and holds Diploma in Music & currently has over 75 students. She has dedicated herself to teaching Carnatic music with absolute commitment. Since students are born and brought up in USA, almost all of her student cannot speak their mother tongue ( Telugu, Tamil, Kannada or Malayalam) but can sing beautifully without any problem in pronunciation. She is very happy to see the dedication of the kids towards Carnatic Music.

She thanked all the participants for their interest shown in the Carnatic Music Program from Clarksville, Columbia, Ellicott City, Elkridge, Laurel & Catonsville in Maryland, USA. It is amazing to see parents dedication towards our Culture especially Carnatic Music and some are driving from for more than 30 minutes to make their kids attend classes. By Gods Grace, Wish and Will, she wants to spread the light of Carnatic Music & retain our culture among future generations.
