Bhavan’s Vivekananda College 21st Annual Day Celebrations

Bhavan’s Vivekananda College celebrated its 21st Annual Day on March 12, 2015 with great fervor. Within a span of two decades the college has grown into a prestigious institution with many laurels and achievements to its credit. Dr Satheesh Reddy, a renowned scientist and Director of RCI, Hyderabad (Research Centre Imarat, DRDO) was invited as the chief guest for the function.
The program started around 4.00 p.m in the evening with the traditional prayer and lighting of the lamp. The welcome address was delivered by Col. M.Vijay Rao, Hon. Director, and BVC. He enthused the students to set higher goals and to keep the human and cultural values high above one’s personal gains. The Guest of Honour, Air Cmde.(Retd) , J L N Sastry , VSM,Vice Chairman, BVB spoke at length about the importance of moral, ethical and spiritual values which are the fundamentals that will help a person to be a better human being.
The Principal, Prof. Y.Ashok presented the annual report for 2014-15. He read out the achievements of the students of Bhavan’s college in the field of academics, sports and other co-curricular activities. He also spoke about the achievements of the distinguished faculty who have presented 67 research papers and have bagged 10 UGC Research projects.
The chief guest stressed that institutions like Bhavan’s college should pursue research in the field of pure sciences. In this age when everyone is looking for a career in IT or engg, pure sciences is the only hope that will usher new technology and self reliance for India.
The formal function included the felicitation of the meritorious students and the achievers in the various co-curricular activities. The students were congratulated and presented prizes and certificates by the Principal.The college Magazine “VIBHA” was released by the Chief Guest, Dr Satheesh Reddy on this day.
The prize distribution ceremony was followed by a spectacular cultural show presented by the Xpressionz club of the college. The cultural show included a classical dance by Miss Bhavyashree, a group dance by Deepika and group, classical group song by the Bhavan’s choir and a musical mime depicting terrorism.
The program concluded with the Vote of thanks and refreshments.
