Chandra Rajendran, Head of Design, Sakhi Fashions
Chandra has been a successful Bangalore-based designer for more than 15 years. She has a keen eye for colour and a passion for design. With a modest yet loyal client base of 15 of her friends, designer Chandra first tasted success in the form of a home boutique, something she started as a hobby. Chandra’s penchant for innovative design and a refined sense of color ensured her clients frequented her hobby-boutique. Steadily growing, the home run enterprise earned Chandra a name for herself.
What started out as a hobby with 15 clients transformed within a few years into a successful business with Chandra having to juggle between designing and managing the logistics of the growing interest in the home boutique this brought about the need to explore the option of expanding into an exclusive store.
Chandra specializes in what Sakhi calls “wearable design”. It is about creating unique designs that make you stand out subtly from the crowd she says. Chandra an embodiment of elegance and grace is a live testament to her creations and chooses to wear them with modesty at several occasions leaving many ladies in awe of her attire and adding them to her clientele.
Chandra keeps looking for inspiration from the world around her constantly - in the every day scenes around her - the peacock she runs into at her holiday or the flower bouquet someone bought. She enjoys this exercise immensely and in her mind, colors and patterns keep churning unceasingly bringing out interesting new creations. She manages the creative engine of Sakhi with aplomb ably assisted by her daughter Neeta who focuses on the business part of the venture.
