Hyderabad, February 17, 2021: God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers. So also parents couldn’t be everywhere so soldiers and police are created said Jr NT Rama Rao while addressing a gathering of about 1500 people at the 1st Cyberabad Police Annual Conference 2021 organised by Cyberabad Traffic Police in the city on Wednesday at Sandhya Convention Hall at Gachibowli

I have come here not as an actor but as the sad family member who lost two family members in the Road Accidents.

I have lost my father Shri Nandamuri Harikrishna, in a road accident near Nalgonda. The whole world knows how careful driver my father was as he drove my grandfather Shri NT Rama Rao 33000 km in Chaitnya Ratham safely. We lost him because of somebody’s wrong and carelessness driving.

I have also lost my brother Janaki Ram in a highway accident. Both lost their lives for no fault of theirs and both these incidents send a strong message on road safety.

Responsible driving is the key. Everyone who sits in front of a steering wheel must bear in mind there is a family who is dependent on him waiting back at home.

No amount of legislation, rules ensure the change we all want to see. It has to be self-driven to change yourself.

Earlier on arrival Jr NTR launched two highway patrol vehicles which will be deployed on Hyderabad Bijapur highway. These two are added to six vehicles already deployed and operational in other areas.

He also inspected the stalls and enquired about the products on the display

Chief Guest Sandeep Shandilya, Additional DGP, Railways and Road Safety said nearly hundreds lose their lives every year in Cyberabad alone. In 30 out of 100 accidents, precious lives are lost. When this is compared to Tamil Nadu, it is higher, he said.

Two lakh new vehicles are being added every year to the already congested roads he said.

Shandilya appreciated Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar for all his proactive initiatives. He lauded his efforts for mobilising plasma when the society was in dire need of it.

Shandilya also stressed on the responsible driving.

Cyberabad Police accord high importance to road safety. Our goal has been to reduce road accidents and minimise deaths. We have taken a holistic approach. Cyberabad Traffic Police under the leadership of SM Vijay Kumar, DCP Traffic, Cyberabad, have done a very good job. He appreciated their efforts.

People are afraid of Cyberabad Police and dare not to violate any rules. They think twice before they enter its jurisdiction as no culprit goes unpunished.

Sajjanar recalled the excellence performances of various colleagues in the department. And appreciated them for their good work.

Hit and run cases have been challenging us. We put special focus on these cases. We are the first in the country to do so. Unlike many, we have been very strict on getting thousands of driving licenses cancelled. Which not many states can boast of he said.

Again, we can probably hold the distinction of establishing road safety check posts thereby enforcing on people who are not wearing helmets. We could confiscate vehicle and made people buy more than 10,000 helmets, he informed.

Sreenivas, Traffic Inspector was the first police officer in India to have donated plasma during the pandemic and he has done it thrice, Sajjanar informed the gathering

Sajjanar also highlighted Malcolm Wolf of Streetwise Driving School and its importance. This could probably be the only driving school in the country imparting driving in a correct traffic way, he said

Giving his welcome address SM Vijay Kumar, DCP Traffic, Cyberabad highlighted the importance of the annual meet of Cyberabad Traffic Police.

Creating awareness about road safety and recognising the efforts of the traffic cops who are working against a lot of odds on the road is the objective behind this meet, he told the 1500 plus gathering.

He spoke about Savior, a new initiative that was likely to be launched later in the program.

A new initiative SAVIOR was launched. SAVIOR is Save Accident Victims on the Road, that highlights and spreads the importance of golden hour treatment.

Malcolm Wolfe of Streetwise Driving school said that it is very unfortunate that a driver is supposed to test in 24 skills before he or she is granted a driving license. But, unfortunately, we just test 3 skills and grant a licence. He also highlighted that air travel is the safest because it is strictly governed by the rules. We have four times more chances of dying on the roads as compared to pandemics and wars, he said.

Krishna Yedula, General Secretary of SCSC said safety and security is not just the responsibility of government, police but also citizens and other stakeholders. He highlighted the various initiatives of SCSC towards road safety.

Sai Teja, a traffic volunteer shared his experience as the traffic volunteer and said traffic cops' job is tough and thankless. After donning the role, my respect for them rose folds, he said.

Two accident survivors narrated their hard times and how the helmet came to their rescue and saved their lives.

Sand Artist Kanth Risa performed a sand art and narrated a story through the art, which received a standing ovation from the audience.

Venkat Tankasala, Incharge Traffic Forum SCSC spoke about ABC, Active Bleed Control procedure and how volunteers need to be trained to save lives of road accident victims.

The cast of Jabardast entertainment program of a Television Channel presented a skit on road safety. Later the cast was felicitated by the Chief Guest Jr. NTR.

Dr Swarnalatha of Jeevandhan was felicitated for her contribution.
