Telangana has known for its traditional, ancient Ikat weaving in India. It is popular among ancient Ikat weaving centers in India and has been attracting the attention of fabric and saree lovers. With its unique Geometric designs, sarees and dress materials made with Pochampally Ikat style of weaving are gaining popularity even in this modern era.
Recent selection of this fabric by Air India, Government of India owned airlines towards uniform of its men and women itself showcases its popularity and robustness. The uniqueness of these designs can be further understood as it founds its place in tentative list of UNSECO's world heritage sites as part of Iconic Saree Weaving Clusters of India.
In order to further enhance its visibility under "Vocal for Local" call given by respective governments, Radisson Hitec City Hyderabad in association with Pochampalli Ikat has decided to create a Christmas Tree by using around 40 Pochampally Sarees. Accordingly the unique Christmas Tree was created and has been revealed today. The tree was inaugurated in the presence of Christian Elders from the community and other special guests in the premises of the hotel.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Pavan Kumar, General Manager, Radisson Hitec City Hyderabad has explained the rationale behind constructing this unique Christmas Tree by using Ancient Pochampalli Sarees. He said that the decision was made to promote the locally popular brands in national and international arena under "Vocal for Local". He expressed confidence that through these small gestures, hotel can explain how these ancient brand is moving forward by incorporating modernity without compromising its traditional values. While extending Christmas Wishes to its guests, Sri Pavan Kumar hoped that Hotel industry will move forward from the hardships created during the pandemic
