Hyderabad, September 11th, 2018 : Sri Thota Vaikuntam, Eminent Senior Artist; was the Chief Guest at the valedictory of the four day Art camp by Artists & Students - PUNARKRITI, hosted by Hyderabad Arts & Culture Foundation; Pegasus Art Gallery and Mahila Dakshata Samithi, on Tuesday at Suman Junior College, Chandanagar. Present on the occasion were Guests of Honour Smt. Anju Poddar, Art Connoisseur & Author; Ms Chandana Khan, Former IAS, President, Pegasus Art Gallery; Dr Saroj Bajaj, President, Mahila Dakshata Samithi and Mr Vinod K. Agarwal,Former IAS, President, Hyderabad Arts & Culture Foundation; the participating artists, fifteen student artists from Mahila Dakshata Samiti, Art connoisseurs, several socialites and prominent citizens.
Mahila Dakshata Samiti, a non-Government, non-political, non-sectarian national body focussed on Woman and Child Welfare, working towards uplifting of the underprivileged girl students for nearly four decades; has hosted the initiative. It brought together celeb artists and underprivileged student artists from Mahila Dakshata Samiti through the platform - Punarkriti.
The students immensely benefited by learning about the intricacies of art, which also aided them to fine tune their artistic skills, while it was an opportunity for the artists to know first-hand the hardship and poverty the students experienced and the background they hail from, says Dr Saroj Bajaj. Some of artifacts of the student artists on display were an outpouring of the struggles they overcame with determination to accomplish something in the lives, she adds.
The works of Artists, Agnes- D' Cruz Rajesh; Akshay Anand Singh B; Ahobilam Prabhaker; Ashima; Bala Bhakta Raju; Chandana Khan; Chinni Sripathi; Debabrata Biswas; Jeevan Gosika; Jaya Behati; Madhu Kuruva; Rajiv Sur Roy; Srinivas Reddy B; Shravan Kumar GK; Srikanth Babu Adepu; Tailor Srinivas; Vijay Belde; U.Vijay Kumar; 15 talented students of Mahila Dakshata Samithi, were on display at the Art camp.
Mahila Dakshata Samithi (MDS), is a four decade old non-Government, non-political, non-sectarian, National Body of Woman and Child Welfare, working towards empowerment of women and the girl child. Under the dynamic leadership of Smt. Suman Krishnakant, MDS commenced its operation 38 years back with 15 enlightened and educated ladies. Dr. Saroj Bajaj, the then, Vice President (all India) and current President of Telangana and AP States, along with a dedicated team of members started ‘Suman Nilayam’ a hostel for working women at Gangaram, the foundation stone of which was laid by the then Governor of AP, Sri Krishnakant and the then Prime minister Sri P V Narasimha Rao, inaugurated it later. Dr Saroj Bajaj, who took up the cudgels of the MDS in AP, has been relentlessly working for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society, especially the women, for more than four decades. Today MDS runs Suman Nilayam (Girls and working women’s hostel); Suman Junior College for Girls (General); MDS & Shri. V.D. Bajaj Degree College for Women; Suman Junior College for Girls (Vocational Jr. Nursing College) Mahila Dakshata Samithi and Bansilal Malani College of Nursing. These institutions provide Education along with boarding for over seven hundred students belonging to under-privileged sections of the society.
