Hyderabad, September, 2018: The local body, the Rotary Dist 3150, of the 113 years old Rotary International organsied on Sunday morning a Peace Walk here in the city at KBR Park. The Walk was flagged off by Rotarian Ramesh Vangala, Rotary District Governor and was organized Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills
Five hundred Rotarians, their family members and school children participated in the walk.
Starting from KBR Park, they walked 5kms upto Jubilee Hills Checkpost and returned to KBR Park
The Walk was organized as part the Multi-District Peace Conference 2018, Symphony which is currently underway in the city at Hotel Marigold.
Rotarian Ramesh Vangala also unveiled “Peace Pole”. It is one of the 180 Peace Poles across the globe he said. It is a temporary structure, mobile and moveable. It will be shifted to a permanent venue in the city, he informed.
Rotary trains 100 Peace Callers trained every year for the world peace, informed Ramesh Vangala. Rotary Foundation spends every year 80 to 100 million US dollars across the world on Service Activities. During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $ 3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. Our 35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects that support our six causes. With donations like your, we have wiped out 99.9 percent polio cases. Rotarians donation also trains future peacemakers, supports clean water and strengthens local economies, added Rotary Governor Ramesh Vangala.
Rotary Foundation spends Rs 150crore every year on service activities, he added.
Peace touches nearly everything we do in Rotary. Peace has been at the core of our organization since its earliest days. We are doing a peace conference in the city to reiterate Rotarian's commitment and pledge towards promoting World Understanding, Good Will, and Peace through improvement of Health, the support of education and alleviation of Poverty informed Rotarian Ramesh Vangala.
The aim of the walk, according to organizers, Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills, Miyapur, Hyderabad Pearls and Greater Hyderabad was to showcase Rotarians Commitment, Dedication, and Strength in Doing Good in the World.
