Hyderabad, November 29, 2017.... Rakhi Sharma, a 20yers old resident of Moulali and a Fashion Design student at INIFD Hyderabad Himayathnagar, showcased her five-piece collection at a Mini Fashion held on the sidelines of the Graduation Ceremony of the center here in the city hotel, Grand Kakatiya on Wednesday.
She also unveiled her ambitious plans of launching her label very soon. It took two months to get inspiration and six months to come out with the collection, which she titled “Mesmerising Metallics”, brings out glamour and sensuality through weaves of Indian heritage and fabric embellishments in the form of the Fardi Ka Kaam and Chikankar Techniques.
The inspiration for this collection, Rakshi Sharma says is the night sky with stars being represented by metal works and the night clouds by white thread work. The color palette gives away sophistication—grey, and sensuality—wine color silhouettes that run through the collection are a wedge, box, rectangular and an A-line’s silhouettes. I spent sleepless six months on the collection, he added.
She is the only Telugu girl to represent out of 24 Indians who showcased their collections at London Fashion Week. She got selected out of 500 contestants from across 180 INIFD spread all over India.
The London mentors and Jury members from London selected the 24 Designers who showcased their collection at the Fashion Scout during the London Fashion Week. Rakhi Sharma was the only one to represent the Telugu States. Rakhi’s Collection was featured prominently in British Vogue, a Fashion Magazine which is considered as the Bible of Fashion.

On the occasion of the Graduation Day ceremony, INIFD announced their technical collaboration with Institute for Indian Interior Designers( IIID), India’s apex body of Interior Design professionals to offer 3years Interior Design Program with one year internship. Anil Khosla, CEO of INIFD; Aparna Bidarkar, Chairperson of Hyderabad Chapter of IIID; Sanjay Saraswath graced the function and formally announced the collaboration.
This was later followed by a graduation ceremony where 60 of INIFD’s students graduated and were given away graduation certificates.
Does an Interior Designer need to be licensed? Aparna Bidarkar, Chairperson of Hyderabad Chapter of IIID while addressing the gathering said if you want to develop Interior Designing Profession, it needs to be regulated the way Architects are given licenses to practice she said. Those days are not very far. IIID is working towards it she shared.
Addressing the 250 plus gathering, Anil Khosla, CEO of INIFD said the brand INIFD is the World’s Largest Global network of Design Institutes. It has a legacy 23 years of legacy. It has passed out over 5 Lac students in the past two and half decades. We pass out 25,000 students every year. We have 183 centers and spread over to 13 countries.
There is a lot of synergy between Fashion and Interior Designing. Fashion is not just confined to clothes. Good clothes in a bad environment have no value. They two sides of the same coin. He told students to think beyond academics. Graduation certificate is a mere a piece of paper, which has no value. What matters is the skill sets, which are more valued than marks, grades, and ranks. Designing has now greater appeal beyond clothes. Wedding set designing is emerging big. So also film sets, which Baahubali has proven. Event State designing, he told
Anil Khosla announced that INIFD tied up with Decorex, the world’s largest Interior Design Event to be held in London as a knowledge partner.
He informed that their students after successful London Fashion Week would soon showcase their works in New York Fashion Week in February 2018. The first Fashion Week took birth in the world in the year1943. Since then the talented and budding fashion designers have been showcasing their collections in those events. Unfortunately, not many Indians could make. We would like to get our budding fashion designers international exposure so that it gives a fillip to their career, he shared.
INIFD is in talks with IMG Reliance on a possible tie-up. IMG is the international giant and the world’s biggest global sport, event, talent management company headquartered in New York City. IMG organize all mega events and Fashion Weeks across the World like New York Fashion Week, Australian Fashion Week, Lakme Fashion Week, etc. It was proposed that INIFD will get into a strategic tie-up with IMG-Reliance through which INIFD students will get the exclusive right on the Digital Content developed by IMG-Reliance.
INIFD, own TV Channel—INIFD TV, providing a platform to generation next to showcase their creativity besides a peek-a-boo into the fashion/design/celebrities/stars world.
Now it is proposed to set up INIFD Mall, a virtual mall, which will provide its students and pass out an online platform to promote/sell their product and services, informed Sanjay Saraswath.
