Mee Mee Celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2016 with 'Mom's Milk Matters'

Parenting and baby care brand Mee Mee celebrates World Breastfeeding Week 2016 with 'Mom's Milk Matter' workshop where Dr.Y K Swapna, FICOG, DGO, DNB (OBG), Dr. Srilatha Gorthi, MBBS (Gold Medalist), MD, DNB, MRCOG (UK), DFFP (UK), CIRM, (UK),CCT (UK) (Obstretics & Gynecology) along with Naresh Khatar, MD, Me N Moms Pvt. Ltd. addressed expecting mothers and new parents on importance of breastfeeding and answered their queries on the same. The event saw presence of the Telegu Actress Madhumita who is also a mother and came to support the cause along with 200 mothers.

Though traditionally, an Indian mother opted for breast milk, with urbanization she has been introduced to a variety of alternatives that make her doubt the importance of Breastfeeding. She is thus confused and is convinced that they are better than breast milk for her baby. Mom's Milk Matters is an initiative by Mee Mee to share correct knowledge with the mothers and reinstate their belief in Breastfeeding by educating them.

The event was a 2 hour dedicated workshop where the core aim was to educate parents that in India post natal & infant death is higher than first world developed countries and one of the most important factors behind this is malnutrition. The event thus emphasized the importance of mother's milk, which is the best nutrition for the baby as breastfeeding provides all the nutrients a baby needs to develop a healthy immunity. Dr. Y K Swapna talked about the various beliefs and traditions; advice given to a mother during the three trimesters of pregnancy and challenges faced by a mother in urban India after the baby is born whereas Dr. Srilatha Gorthi spoke about the importance on stem cell banking. The transition from being a stay-at-mom in the initial months to being a working mother was also discussed. Alongwith the workshop, the brand also celebrated a whole week long awareness drive across Hyderabad via setting up awareness booths at Me n Moms stores, specialized baby stores and corporate parks, radio awareness drive and outdoor campaigns for reaching out and educate as many new parents.

Telegu Actress & Mother of two, Madhumita, who graced the seminar with her presence said, 'I am glad that babycare brand Mee Mee has come forward to discuss a very crucial topic like breastfeeding with Mom's Milk Matters. As we all know, in a country like India where the infant mortality rate is high and most of the mortality is caused due to malnutrition, initiatives like this will contribute to reducing it if every brand and thought leader starts creating awareness. I am a mother myself and have faced my share of challenges with breastfeeding. I wish there was a platform like this when I needed it and thus I am glad to be here to support the cause. Many mother like me could benefit from the workshop. It was truly enlightening.'
