Katha-Screenplay-Darsakatvam AppalRaju Muhurat

Featuring Sunil as male lead Ram Gopal Varma is going to direct a straight Telugu film after 12 years. Titled ‘Katha, Screenplay, Darsakatvam, Appalraju’, producer Kiran Kumar Koneru of Sreya Productions banner launched the film today morning (August 27th, 2010) at Annapurna Studios, Hyderabad. Colors Swathi is playing the female lead. The grand launching event was graced by yester year heroine Sridevi, her husband Bonny Kapoor, Nagarjuna, K Raghavendra Rao, Boyapati Sreenu, Naga Chaitanya, Rana, Nithin, Gunasekhar, B Gopal, Sreenu Vaitla, etc.

The muhurat shot was inaugurated by Sridevi switching on the camera, while Nagarjuna by tapped the clap board on Sunil. The first shot was directed by K Raghavendra Rao.

Later speaking to the media Ram Gopal Varma said, “I’m doing a film in Telugu after 12 years of gap. There is a flash back for inviting Nagarjuna and Sridevi for this film launch. I never saw Nag’s films standing in a queue but he became the turning point of my life. Sridevi is the main reason why I chose this field. I used stand for hours to buy tickets for her films. Every director thinks that he is better than the existing directors. So I made the song writer to pen a song based on that point. My intention is not to hurt any director by adding one such song in the film. I hope all directors will understand what I meant to say. This movie is based on my personal story but I’m crafting it by adding some entertainment elements.”

Sridevi while speaking, “After a very long time I got the opportunity to meet our people. I thank Ramu for inviting me for this event. Nag is a good human being and is cool with everyone. There are some sweet memories of my first film with Nag was ‘Aakhari Poratam’. It’s making me happy while recollecting all of them. I wish this film to become a huge hit and will attend the silver jubilee function with my husband again.”

Nagarjuna said, “Ram Gopal Varma said that he never saw my films standing in a queue. Of late I’m not watching his films. But the trailers of ‘Raktha Charitra’ are generating curiosity to watch the film. The film industry needs good directors. I’m ready to work with Ramu if he is willing. I will be young forever, so even if he delays I don’t mind. I want to do a better film than ‘Shiva’. I was little tensed when I did ‘Aakhari Poratam’ with Sridevi. But Raghavendra Rao garu told me to consider myself as a King whenever I shoot next to her. That is how I became a ‘King’ in the industry now. I wish this film should become a big hit for Sunil and Ramu.”

Sunil said, “At one point of time I wanted to act in Varma’s ‘Premakatha’ but failed to get a chance due to lot of competition. But today I got this opportunity due to probably missing the chance on that day. I’m a great fan of Sridevi."

Heroine Swathi said, “Most of my friends will feel jealous because I’m going to work with Ram Gopal Varma. Today onwards I’m the heroine of Ramu’s film.”
