Ramayana will hit international theaters two days before its India release. As strategies go, this one is a rare one. The movie arrives in overseas markets on Friday, November 6. Meanwhile, the Indian theatrical release targets Sunday, November 8. Producer Namit Malhotra is targeting a Diwali festival release.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the star-studded spectacle features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Sony Pictures handles global distribution for the high-budget project.
The film's English-language trailer was unveiled the other day. Netizens believe that many scenes were genuinely shot in English and Hindi separately. The English version might not click with the Western audience, if the content released so far is anything to go by. Unless some miraculous marketing turnaround happens, Ramayana might go unnoticed in the developed world.
Ramayana features music by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman. Sweeping landscapes, intense battle sequences, and epic palace scenes shot for IMAX are touted to be among the film's highlights. The second part of Ramayana will be released in theatres for Diwali 2027.
