Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra' is all set to stream on Amazon Prime from November 12. Ahead of its release, Suriya and director Sudha Kongara have interacted with the media. Excerpts from the interaction:

Suriya said:

This is a special film to me. It's because the protagonist pulls off the impossible in the story. If ordinary people are able to fly today, it's because of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. Sudha Kongara has woven an inspiring story based on his life.

We have used the gap induced by the pandemic to refine the graphics and CG work. The output has only been fine-tuned with time.

I have played a number of contrasting roles in films such as 'Ghajini', 'Singham', 'Surya S/o Krishnan' and the likes. I have donned various get-ups. In the case of 'Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra', I have played a real-life character. So, I was more careful about my performance. I had to look the part of an ordinary man, an Airforce captain and show various other shades. What excited me the most is the character's nature and behaviour.

While the theatre experience won't be there due to the pandemic, the audience now have the luxury of watching movies in the comfort of their homes, with their families. It's not downgrading theatres and supporting OTTs. As a producer, under my banner, a number of films are in the making. Given the extraordinary situation, I have made a courageous decision to go for OTT in the given circumstances.

Sudha Kongara said:

As Suriya said, this film is very special to all of us. It tells the story of an extraordinary man. He made people believe that low-cost flying is a doable thing. Suriya has played the onscreen Gopinath so well.

The lockdown-induced gap gave us the opportunity to perk up the output and make the film all the more entertaining.

I always like underdog stories. I am not attracted to larger-than-life heroes' stories. We all can learn something or the other from the travails of the hero in our film.
